The rooms where the Centre is based form part of the historic
ex-hospital of S. Giovanni di Dio. These rooms have been
granted for the use of the Centre by the local health
board (Azienda USL 10) of Florence together with the furniture
and pictures belonging to the old convent and hospital.
The space includes a secretarial centre and a lecture
hall and areas for study and exhibitions. Between 1998
and 1999 the Sovrintendenza ai Beni Artistici e Storici
di Florence, Prato e Pistoia surveyed the furniture and
pictures and drew up a plan for their restoration and
supervised their display for the museum.
The secretarial centre is fully computerised and the Centre
has its own web-site which can also be found on that part
of the web-site of the Commune of Florence is devoted
to cultural institutions.
